Cin7 vs KNKTD OS: inventory software or one fashion workflow?
Cin7 manages apparel inventory well. KNKTD OS connects the style, techpack, buying, stock, Shopify order, shipment, and return.

Verdict: Cin7 is the stronger general inventory platform. KNKTD OS is the better operating system for a Shopify-first fashion brand working with external factories, because product development, buying, inventory, storefront data, fulfilment and returns stay in one workflow.
Cin7 and KNKTD OS can both hold products, purchase stock and process orders. That overlap makes them look more interchangeable than they are. Cin7 is built around inventory. KNKTD OS is built around the product itself, beginning while it is still a style and carrying its data through a connected operational chain to the customer and back again if it is returned.
For a fashion brand, the difference is not cosmetic. It decides how many systems your team has to maintain and how often the same colour, size, cost, customs detail or approval has to be entered again.
The decision in 30 seconds
Choose Cin7 if your product-development process already works, you sell through several marketplaces, or a mature B2B inventory ecosystem matters more than keeping development in the same system.
Choose KNKTD OS if you develop apparel with external factories, run primarily on Shopify, and want the style, techpack, purchase order, stock, market price and shipment to remain connected.
For that second business, KNKTD OS is the clear fit. Cin7 would solve the downstream inventory and order portion of the operation; KNKTD OS replaces the disconnected PLM and shipping workflow around it as well.
What each system considers a product
Cin7 starts from a stocked item. Its product families handle apparel variations properly: a family can contain colour and size options, generate unique SKUs and display quantities as a matrix on sales and purchase documents. It is capable inventory software for apparel.
But the family exists after the product decisions have already been made. The design, graded measurements, annotated sketches, materials, construction notes, fit sessions and approval trail still need another home.
KNKTD OS starts before the SKU. A style can carry its designer, season, colourway, size chart, measurements, costs and a custom lifecycle with stage deadlines. Its versioned techpack covers annotated flats, BOM, measurement specification, construction, care and compliance, costing, packaging, artwork and fit history. Once the style reaches its approved gate, it is eligible to become the product that warehouse and order teams use.
That is the advantage: the product is not rebuilt at the handoff between design and operations.
The workflow comparison
| Fashion workflow | Cin7 Core | KNKTD OS |
|---|---|---|
| Styles, seasons, designers and colourways | External development workflow | Built in |
| Custom development stages and SLA tracking | External development workflow | Built in |
| Versioned techpacks and annotated sketches | External PLM or files | Built in |
| Measurements, construction, fit history and approval | External PLM or files | Built in |
| Apparel size-and-colour product matrix | Built in | Built in from the style's size chart |
| Purchase orders and receiving | Built in | Built in, including payments, receiving variance and repair POs |
| Multi-location and bin-level inventory | Built in | Built in |
| Shopify product, inventory, order and return sync | Integration | Two-way Shopify workflow |
| Carrier labels, customs and reverse labels | Through shipping integrations | Built into the order and return workflow |
| Stock-aware sales velocity and size curves | General inventory reporting | Built in and used to pre-fill purchase quantities |
Cin7 wins the conventional inventory breadth contest. KNKTD OS wins the complete fashion workflow.
A jacket makes the difference clearer
Take one jacket in three colourways and five sizes.
In a Cin7-centred stack, the jacket is developed elsewhere. Once approved, somebody creates or imports its 15 variants, checks the SKUs, copies costs and product details, raises the purchase order, and then keeps the development record and inventory record aligned when something changes. Cin7 does the inventory work after that handoff well. It does not remove the handoff.
In KNKTD OS, the size chart that structured the style also structures its variants. The approved style becomes an inventory product without inventing the product a second time. The team can:
- generate SKUs and barcodes from organization rules;
- issue a supplier PO and record deposits, receipts, accepted, defective and rejected quantities;
- receive into locations and bins, transfer stock, and track what is on hand, reserved and incoming;
- publish product data, media, inventory and market prices to Shopify;
- route the resulting orders by destination, shipping method and value;
- buy EasyPost or YunExpress labels with customs data already carried on the product; and
- process Shopify returns, issue reverse labels and reconcile the refund and restock decision.
One connected chain through those steps is more valuable than a longer feature list split across several systems.
The size-curve advantage
Restocking apparel is not just deciding how many units to buy. It is deciding the size split.
KNKTD OS calculates sales velocity while a size was actually in stock, so six weeks of zero sales while a size was unavailable do not get mistaken for six weeks of weak demand. It blends that history into size curves by product and size chart, then uses the curve to pre-fill PO quantities. Teams can still override it, but they begin with current evidence instead of an old spreadsheet ratio.
That loop is possible because KNKTD OS knows the size chart from development, the availability history from inventory and the sales history from Shopify. A Cin7-plus-PLM stack can reproduce the analysis, but the data has to be joined across systems first.
Pricing: the gap is not subtle
Cin7 publishes Core pricing in USD, excluding tax. Its current pricing page lists:
| Cin7 Core plan | Price / month | Users | Sales orders / year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $349 | 5 | 6,000 |
| Pro | $599 | 10 | 24,000 |
| Advanced | $999 | 15 | 120,000 |
| Omni | Contact sales | 8 | Flexible |
Extra integrations and order capacity may cost more. Cin7's B2B portal is useful, especially for wholesale, but its own setup documentation says each portal requires an add-on licence.
KNKTD OS publishes flat USD pricing and gives every tier the full platform:
| KNKTD OS plan | Price / month | Team members | Platform access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $100 | 2 | Full PLM, WMS, OMS and Shopify workflow |
| Standard | $150 | 5 | Full platform |
| Growth | $275 | 10 | Full platform |
| Unlimited | $500 | Unlimited | Full platform, with DDP landed cost included |
There is a 14-day free trial. The optional duty-and-tax calculation is $5/month on the first three tiers. See the current KNKTD OS pricing before deciding.
At comparable team sizes, KNKTD OS costs less before accounting for the separate product-development and shipping tools a Cin7-centred workflow may still require.
Where Cin7 still wins
Cin7 has more years, more integrations and broader channel coverage behind it. Its product-family matrix is solid. Its manufacturing options go beyond what KNKTD OS is designed to do. If B2B wholesale, marketplace breadth or an existing Cin7 ecosystem is central to the business, those are substantial advantages.
KNKTD OS is deliberately narrower. Shopify is its sales-channel focus, and it is not an accounting system or a general-purpose ERP. That narrower scope is precisely why it can model fashion development, purchasing and fulfilment as one chain rather than treating each as a separate departmental system.
Bottom line
If you only need inventory software, Cin7 is the more established choice.
If you are a Shopify-first fashion brand working with external factories, inventory is only the middle of the problem. KNKTD OS also runs the work before stock exists and after the order arrives: collection planning, style development, techpacks, approvals, supplier buying, multi-location inventory, Shopify publishing, international pricing, labels, tracking, returns, permissions, notifications and operational reporting.
For that business, KNKTD OS is not a lighter Cin7. It is the more complete system.
